This has been a hard week. I wasn’t even sure I would sit down to write, but here I am. Maybe this is super dorky, but hey, it’s just us; when I am struggling I sometimes read my previous content. I found two posts that are helping me through this rough patch. Maybe they will reach your heart in the forgotten places, too.
I hope to start creating and posting new Messages from the Sea soon. Until then, this one keeps popping into my head at all hours of the day.
It’s meant to be shared:
In my healing journey I have nearly exhausted all outward modalities. While my survival toolkit has grown, these tools sometimes aren’t enough.
In these moments my only option is inward.
Click the picture below to read this Find Your Flow post from last summer. When I read it I was surprised at how much I shared about some past challenges. But like I said, it’s just us so why not?
This leads me to a simple exercise you can use when you are having a hard day:
What happened to you?
I often skip this question when I’m in a spiral of anxiety and use this one instead: What is wrong with me?
The first one gives me a self-compassionate context to see the whole of what I am going through, the second one piles blame and shame upon a already hurting heart.
Please use the first one.
What happened to you?
Answer this clearly and it will illuminate your heart with forgiveness.
