RESOURCES

In my mid-twenties, my awakening experiences started to deepen. These were a call to return to my true nature, the one I had covered over in a fruitless attempt to fit into the world at large. The deeper inward I went, the more jarring and isolating my outer reality became. Until I could get my spiritual bearings, books were my saving grace.

Over time, my resources have expanded to include a self-compassion curriculum, mindfulness classes, yoga practices, a spiritual retreat to Africa, equus workshops, meditation techniques, you name it.

If it points inward, you can bet I’ve probably tried it.

As all our paths are unique, I encourage you to explore the resources that speak most directly to your heart.

Mindful Self-Compassion Resources, Curriculum, & Practices

Founded and Created by Kristin Neff & Chris Germer

Even years after completing an 8 week MSC curriculum, I continue to use the wisdom and techniques I learned to help me cultivate self-compassion in my every day life. This is the curriculum that could change everything for you.

8 Week 0n-Line Course to Reduce Stress and Learn Mindfulness Techniques

Created by Jon Kabat Zinn, A Leading Founder of the Western Mindfulness Movement

This course taught me the science behind the practice of mindfulness. If you are interested in learning more, Jon Kabat Zinn’s book, Full Catastrophe Living, is a comprehensive and practical guide on how being more present can improve all aspects of your life experience.

“Helping each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, more free and less alone.”

My favorite podcast to listen to as I walk on the beach, hosted by Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach & Amanda Doyle

“With topics ranging from courage to creativity, purpose to intuition, these discussions will engage and support you on your journey to self-knowledge.”

This is Martha Beck’s weekly Facebook Live in podcast form. She fearlessly explores life’s magic and I love her for it.

Practices

Free guided meditations to meet you where you are.

Preferred teachers:
Sarah Blondin & Tara Brach

“With a deep reverence and respect for yoga philosophy, Adriene combines studies of traditional yoga with developmental movement, storytelling, and mindfulness application for the modern day.”

And it’s free!

“Creator of both Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra and Five Element Yoga®, Jennifer is one of the foremost teachers of yoga nidra.”

Jennifer offers this free yoga nidra on Insight Timer. I encourage you to check it out so you can see if this feels like a supportive and healing modality for you. It certainly is for me and Jennifer is a gifted and loving guide.

A revolutionary, research-based program to rewire our brains to a higher self perspective. This has been the most practical method I have encountered to help me pause, understand clearly where my thoughts are, and make more peaceful and informed choices.

Highly recommend!

Retreats

A Self-Transformation Adventure Retreat

The South African savanna offered me a profound and visceral experience of stillness like nothing else has before. The private game reserve, Londolozi, where this retreat takes place, reminds us of our innate wholeness. I am still processing the depths of my spiritual shifts from my time in Africa with Martha’s guidance during the summer of 2019.

Kripalu offers teachers & programs to support your inward path as well as signature Renewal & Retreat wellness packages.

Included in any experience at Kripalu, is the most incredible and delicious food. Everything is prepared with caring intention which reminds us to nourish our bodies while tending to our souls.

Following the Wisdom of Animals to Unlock your True Nature

While living in Dallas, I connected with Daryle Gibbs of Pathfindr Equus Coaching who has trained extensively with Koelle. Through my work with him and the horses, I learned new insights into my patterns and internal dialogue. Our last workshop together was overseen by Koelle. Both helped me rewrite my story of pain and loss into one of wisdom and healing. I hope our paths cross again and dream of an African retreat with Koelle and elephants some day in the future.

I had the honor of attending two, separate spiritual retreats led by Tara at Kripalu. Her guidance is always heart-centered and compassionate. Her website offers many free resources if traveling to a retreat is unavailable to you at this time.
