Out Loud Gratitude: Tell Others how you feel

In a span of 48 hours, I managed to tell four cherished people in my life the things I often think, but rarely make a point of saying out loud.
The next day, my youngest, Keaton, had a track meet.
At the conclusion of the night I told him I was grateful he could be there and how much I enjoyed his company.
As for my husband, John, I made sure to tell him what an awesome Dad he is for attending every meet in the baking sun.
Then, if the person isn’t nearby or at the same location, make sure to share it with them in writing.

Like most parents, I’m pretty sure the veracity and volume of my cheering helps spur the success of my kiddos.
I leaned over to John and said, “I hope Keaton is having an good time and that he has a ‘good time’.
When the season began Keaton was so hyper-focused on getting faster he lost sight of the real goal which is to have fun.
The result is his times have steadily improved all season.
When we caught up with him after, he assured me my cheering was a big part of his success.

His humor is getting more sophisticated and I love that he can crack me up on a regular basis.

Even my precious walks to school with the boys are now consumed with serious discussions about stats and standings.
